I have become addicted to book shopping in thrift stores. In the past 3 months, I have brought home 5 separate stacks of books from 3 thrift stores around here. I have gotten such great titles as; The Summer of the Monkeys, Where the Red Fern Grows, All Creatures Great and Small, The Tale of Two Cities, Lord of the Rings, Return of the King, and other awesome works such as these.
We had finished our last group reader. I dug through the new batch. I picked All Creatures Great and Small. I purchased a white board to teach on a couple of weeks ago. This tool has made a big difference in keeping their attention in group. We were exploring the publishing of this book. It was very, very popular.
We read the first chapter, and oh my goodness. We all agree this is really good writing and the subject matter is very relevant for our lifestyle. My children were really engaged and we got to really explore our English language being used to paint very vivid imagery.
What…. No report of the fact that spring has FINALLY sprung at Huber Farm? Chick the records…. I believe ewe failed to mention something! = )
